Our class of '56 (Tough as nails, hard as bricks), will certainly miss Gary, an important character in our class from grade school, on through high school, and continuing as he attended our class reunions. We shall certainly miss our warm, gentle bear--well, gentle but carrying a strong hammer! It was such fun hearing him tell how he instilled order in his school bus route. Reaching under his seat for a hammer, he turned with the hammer toward his rowdy passengers, telling them that one blow to their kneecaps would help them remember their manners, and that their knees would remember throughout their lifetime. Of course, he never had to use the hammer, and of course, he never would have anyway.
Bet Gary & Skip are having a good time together now! Dear Donna and family, my prayers and love are with you.

This past winter my dad had the opportunity to be a truly wonderful friend and that friendship will always be held close in my dad's heart. God's Blessings on you , Gary ! Go shouting for the next big game to begin !! All our best, Kris and Tony Fox, Jamestown, ND

I was Gary's football coach at Adel H.S. when he was a sophomore and junior. He was an outstanding athlete and person. We worked together on a bridge gang one summer and Gary, I and two other of his friends traveled to Colo. one spring break. Gary was one of my favorite people. Always pleasant and generous. He will be missed. I pray he is with the Lord. My sympathies to Donna and the family members. God bless. - Harlan Phillips, Bella Vista, AR.
