Gary Crees

West Des Moines - Gary Crees lost his battle with Alzheimer's disease peacefully at home on March 5, 2021.

He was born to John and Iva Crees on April 15, 1939. He was married to his wife Sandra for 64 years. Gary attended the University of Iowa and was a big Hawkeye fan. He served in the Army as an MP. Upon leaving the service he and Sandra moved to California where he worked for Pacific Bell and eventually joined the California Highway Patrol. Gary retired after 27 years with the CHP and they moved back to Iowa in 2001 to be near family.

Gary is preceded in death by his Son Mitchell, parents John and Iva, sister Dorothy and brothers John and Eldon. He is survived by his wife Sandra, son Anthony Crees (John Sabino), sister LeNore Hansen (Stew), grandchildren Michell Novara (Todd), David Crees and great-grandchildren Alissa, David Jr., Ashley and Bryon.

A private celebration of life will be held later. The family asks that any donations be made to UnityPoint at Home Hospice.
