Harry Sage age 89, of Colfax, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A celebration of Harry's life will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Harry's shed located ½ mile south of his house. His 90th birthday party will begin at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been setup in Harry's name. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The son of Charles and Mary Sage, Harry was born on October 3, 1926, in Colfax. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1946. Harry served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He participated in a Freedom Flight to Washington D.C. He was united in marriage to Lorna Clippinger in 1947. Harry farmed and was in seed sales for over 60 years. He started with Crow's Hybrid and currently with Renk Seed. Harry enjoyed traveling and being with his seed corn friends. He was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church, the American Legion, the Colfax Country Club, and was a longtime trustee for Poweshiek Township. Harry enjoyed hunting, playing golf and playing cards. Harry also enjoyed collecting John Deere 2 cylinder tractors and driving them in the county fair parade.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Lorna; two sons, Eric (Debbie) Sage and Joel (Jeanine) Sage both of Colfax; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a sister, Kathleen Luther of Colfax. Preceding Harry in death were his parents, a brother, Frank, and a grandson, Beau.

I remember working for Harry when I was a kid. No matter how hot it was of how hard the work was, we always had fun.
