Helena Maxine Rosenberg, 96, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Deerfield Retirement Community, Urbandale. Graveside services were held at the Jewish Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.

Helena was born on January 23, 1918 in Grand Island, NE, the daughter of Mae and Max Feinberg. On December 23, 1945, she was united in marriage to Maylon Rosenberg and they made their home in Des Moines. Helena was an avid collector of antiques, collectibles and kewpie dolls; she was a creative business - woman and entrepreneur. In 1965, she founded Maxine's Limited Gift and Collectors Gallery, which she later co-owned with her son Max. Sequentially, the business grew into a nation wide business, which included retail, wholesale, distribution, importing, antique restoration and the manufacturing of Kewpie Dolls.

Helena had passion and devotion for the customers, which she considered friendships and it was not until she was 93 did she retire due to health reasons. Helena was a woman of integrity, strength and wisdom and had a very kind and loving heart. She was an amazing cook and talented in playing the violin. She encouraged everyone to be their best and live life to its fullest. She will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved her.

Helena is survived by her children, Max Rosenberg and Nadyne Leonard; five grandchildren, Jennie (Ben) Zoss, Shawn Goodside, Melissa (Scott) Farrel, Barry (Jenna) Rosenberg and Tricia Rosenberg; six great grandchildren, Brianna, Tyler, Mariah, Trever, Davis and Bauer; sister, Betty Goodside and brother, Ted Feinberg. She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Mae Feinberg and her husband, Maylon and a son, Harlan. The family is thankful for the care she received from her doctors and staff, and the staff at Deerfield.
