Janice LeCroy Obituary

Janice Ellyn LeCroy

Des Moines

Jan LeCroy was born December 13, 1954 in Dubuque, Iowa to Jeanette and Richard LeCroy. Family was her first priority. She surrounded herself with the warmth of her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a kind, loving person who formed strong friendships. She was creative and saw the beauty in everything. Jan enjoyed traveling and appreciated the arts. She will be remembered as a generous, fun-loving woman with a great sense of humor. She liked to try new things and had varied interests. Jan was employed as an investment officer for the Office of the Polk County Treasurer for many years. She had a strong faith and was an involved member of the Altoona United Methodist Church.

Jan passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. She was 58 years old. She is survived by her son, Jon Henson; grandchildren, Samantha, Addison and Grayson Henson; and niece, Gabrielle LeCroy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Jeanette and her brother, Gary LeCroy.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Altoona United Methodist Church, 602 5th Ave SW, Altoona with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning prior to the service.

I worked with Jan years ago in the state treasury. I will always remember Jan as a devoted mother and dedicated worker. My prayers are for her release from human pain to unimaginable joy as she is welcomed into the arms of Jesus. My sympathies go to her loving son, grandchildren, family, and friends.
