John Orvis Obituary
Lineville
John A. Orvis, 78, passed away June 29, 2017, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born June 25, 1939, in Roseau, Minnesota, to Verland and Amy Orvis.
John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon; daughters, Jill Orvis, Tina (Todd) Gordinier, Sarah (Dave) Rost, and Dawn Orvis; grandchildren, Ethan, Zoey, Katie, John, Colton, Maura, and Dalton; great-grandchildren, Brody and Leviathan; siblings, Verland (Joann) Orvis Jr., Richard (Rosie) Orvis, Gary (Carol) Orvis, and Cheryl (George) Reichman; as well as other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Todd and Chad.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, at 12:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery in Roseau, Minnesota.

So sorry to find this. When I found it was my friend, John, my heart sank. I know this is years late, but I had to reach out to you. I will never forget the times John and I had during the years I helped the John Deere team at the grass drags. I was so glad that I could see John and Sharon at the Sinissippi TrailHawks anniversary party. You both will be in my memories forever.

I will miss spending time with John and Sharon on their property. Turkey hunting with him under a robins egg blue spring sky and coming back to the house to sit on the porch rockers , sip beer and talk about nature. A lot of my passions for the outdoors was fueled by John. I will miss him.
