Lester Motsick age 86, of Perry died on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at home near Perry. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will be Friday, February 24, 2012 from 1 to 8 p.m. with the family present to greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Yale. Memorials will be given to Yale Methodist Church and Friends of Prairie Center and may be left at the Funeral Home.

Lester Duane Motsick was born on February 22, 1925 at Pipestone, MN to Frank Ira and Emma (Minet) Motsick. He graduated from Yale High School with the class of 1943. He served his country during W.W. II in the United States Navy on the USS Hornet. On June 4, 1947 he was united in marriage to Zelma Arlene Snively at the Little Brown Church. Lester grew up on the farm and farming was his lifelong work.

Lester was a member of the Yale United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #85 in Perry, Perry Elks Lodge, and Friends of Prairie Center. He enjoyed water skiing, golfing, bowling, and especially dancing at Lake Robbins Ballroom.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Ira and Emma Motsick.

Survivors include his wife: Zelma Motsick, Perry, IA, sons: Larry (Gayle), Rapid City, S.D., Gary, Dawson, IA, and Rick (Lorrie), Perry, IA, a sister: Donna Wilkerson, Linden, IA, brothers: Willis, Apache Junction, AZ, and Doyle, Panora, IA, grandchildren: Tammy DeWolfe, Westwood, MA, Mindy Van Beek, Sioux Center, IA, Matthew Motsick, Shawnee, KS, Tari Mason, Dawson, IA, Jason Motsick, Long Beach, CA, and Tyler Motsick, Rapid City, SD, step-grandchildren, Lisa Uhre, and Jeremy Livermont, Rapid City, SD and ten great- grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren.
