Lori Tassin Obituary
Des Moines
Lori Tassin, 44, died Friday, October 23 at Mercy Medical after an incredibly brave 5 year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by an amazing support group of friends and family!
Lori was born June 20, 1971, in Des Moines to Larry and Bonnie Foley and grew up in New Virginia, Iowa. Lori had a degree in Human Resources and worked as a benefit administrator until she went on disability due to cancer.
Lori is survived by her husband, Craig Tassin; her sons, Jake and Andrew and her stepsons, Lucas and Levi; her father, Larry Foley of New Virginia; and her brother, Tony Foley of Boone. She was preceded in death by her mother.
Lori fought an awe-inspiring battle with stage 4 cancer for more than 5 years, always with grace and an incredible positive attitude. She inspired so many others battling the disease, as well those not, to live life to the fullest and appreciate even the smallest of things!
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 27 from 4-8 p.m. at Grace Church in Des Moines. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, October 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Church. Interment will follow at New Virginia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Kamp Kesem, Free To Breathe, or Care for Camps; all organizations Lori held near and dear. Online condolences are welcomed at IlesCares.com.

I was honored to meet Lori in person once but we shared amazing conversations via instant messages. Lori courageously helped me see the positives of my diagnosis, we often said we felt like we had known each other forever. Her spirit and zest for life inspired me to move forward with grace and gratitude. Lori Foley Tassin, you are still a beacon on my journey and I will take your positiveness with me and keep you close in my heart forever. I thank you, my family thanks you for stepping into our life for that one brief moment that will last with us for a lifetime. Love and prayers to your beautiful family.

What a beautiful, courageous, loving, soul Lori Tassen was! Or should I say is, cause undoubtedly she will never be forgotten! She is safe and sound in Heaven and I am sure happily in her mothers arms. To Lori's family- Unfortunately I didn't get to know Lori for very long but I met her through her involvement with Free to Breathe. I was so inspired by what a courageous and amazing woman she was and am truly sorry for your loss.
