Margaret Drake Obituary

Margaret Bemis Drake

Stevensville, MD.

Margaret , 74, of Stevensville, MD. and formerly of Hopatcong, N.J. passed away on November 24th, 2013 in the care of Hospice of the Chesapeake.

She was born in Des Moines, IA. on September 30th, 1939 to the late Harold and Mabel Bemis. She was the 6th of 8 children.

A retired Postal Worker but probably best remembered as a role model; the "tough but fair" bus driver in Byram, N.J. in the 70's & 80's. She was so tough she would decorate her bus for every holiday and even dress up as a witch for Halloween. The one thing she loved the most was being a Grandma. She even had a sign that said "Grandma, the lean mean spoiling machine."

Margaret was predeceased by her eldest son Glen Drake and is survived by sons: Gregg (Melanie) Drake of Chester, MD. and George (Brenda) Drake of Jacksonville, FL. She has 6 grandchildren: Corey, Valerie, Taylor, Tristan, Garrett and Nolan. She is also survived by her sister Carole Flanders of Des Moines, IA. and brother Bill (Bonnie) Bemis of Las Vegas, NV.

She will be laid to rest in the family plot in Chapel Hill Gardens in Des Moines. A grave side memorial will be held in Spring 2014.
