Mark E. Toney, 43, died in an on duty car accident Tuesday, September 20, 2011 south of Indianola. A public visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2011 at Ankeny Baptist Church (2842 SW 3rd St. Ankeny, IA) and Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Northview Middle School (1302 N. Ankeny Blvd. Ankeny, IA, which is the old high school) for visitation or service information you can call Ankeny Funeral Home at 515-964-4674.

Mark was born October 30, 1967 to Donald and Barbara Toney in Murphysboro,IL, he grew up in Ankeny and graduated from Ankeny High School. Mark worked as a State Technical Accident Investigator with the Iowa State Patrol. He was active in The Boy Scouts of America and involved locally with Boy Scout Troop #105 out of Carroll, IA. He was an avid Colts fan and also enjoyed woodworking, reading, and cooking.

Survivors include his sons, Darrin Toney of Ames, IA; Adam Toney of Carroll, IA; parents, Don and Barbara Toney of Ankeny, IA; fiance' Lisa Stickels and her children, Alexandra, Samantha, and Matthew of Osceola, IA; sister, Debbie (Mike) Toney Wiseman of Bolingbrook, IL and their children, Joe, Kathy, and Kevin, sister, Sharon(Leon) Schwartz of Alden, IA and their children, Heather and Brittany, brother, David (Denise) Toney of Ankeny, IA and their children, Jonathan, Emily and Alyssa, ex-wife, Mary Vaughan and numerous cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mark's memory to The Boy Scouts of America.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the first responders and all who are involved in assisting the family.

I took Mark's young son flying from the milford iowa airport and I would love to communicate with him. I was a milford policeman 8 years and had schmidt alarm systems in the iowa great lakes 25 years

Mark was a great Scout leader and the Scouting community misses him and mourns his passing. He was a friend and was a great part of my faculty for the Southwest Iowa Merit Badge College as our Traffic Safety counselor. My prayers go out to his family.
