Michael "Scorno" Vacco, 57, died Monday, August 9, 2010 at Kavanagh on 56th Street.
A mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with burial following at Glendale Cemetery. A visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Mike was born September 25, 1952 to Roscoe and Anne Marie Vacco. He attended St. Anthony's grade school where he received the John F. Kennedy Award. He graduated from Dowling High School where he participated in many sports and attended the University of Northern Iowa. In 1973, Mike opened Scornovacca's Italian Ristorante and was a successful business man for 37 years. He was a member of St Anthony's Catholic Church and the Society of Italian Americans.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Nathan) Huber; son, Brandon Vacco; parents, Roscoe and Anne Marie Vacco; siblings, Marty Vacco, Valerie (Anthony) Rolando, Victor Vacco, Rocco Vacco, Rory (Betsy) Vacco, Lisa Vacco, Lori (Gerald) Patton, Frankie Vacco, Johnny (Quinby) Vacco, Amy Vacco and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Brandon Vacco Education Fund.
