RETHA B. RUPPE
West Des Moines
Retha B. Ruppe, 88, passed away Friday, August 27, 2010 at Kavanagh House on 56th Street of cancer.
A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial at Highland Memory Gardens.
Retha was born in Diagonal, IA and had lived in the Des Moines area since 1934. She worked in the Iowa State Legislature and Senate, and then retired from Martins Automatic Service. Retha was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, West Des Moines Women's Club, Stewardess Club, Secure Lifestyle, B.P.O Does and volunteered at West Des Moines Human Services and at the state capital. She loved traveling, golf, bowling and sewing.
Retha is survived by her daughter, Linda (James) Leech of St. Charles, IA; brother, George A. (Lorraine) Stephens of Des Moines; sister, Luella Mae Riggs of California and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor and sister, Rose McGee.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren's Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Hospice of Central Iowa.
