Norwalk - Robert Francis Powers, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in the Gardens, a caring and loving community at Edencrest at Legacy in Norwalk. He was born on December 28, 1941 in Cumming, Iowa to Henry Thomas Powers and Elizabeth Agnes Hanrahan. Robert attended a one-room grade school in Cumming from there he went to Norwalk High School. After graduation he was drafted into the Navy and station in San Diego, California. During his time in the Navy he received his education in service tech in which he went on to work for IBM. On April 16, 1966, he married Alice Luree Kisor. Together they had 2 daughters. Robert and Alice enjoyed spending time with their family and friends. Robert's hobbies included being the best husband, father, and grandfather he could be, looking at classic cars, reminiscing about the good old days, and spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Left to honor Robert are his two daughters Beth (Gene) Schwery, Becky Powers, six grandchildren: David (Jen) Schwery, Matt (Melissa) Schwery, Heather (Brad) Noethe, Logan Schwery, Michael Hayden, and Dylan Schwery, two great grandchildren: Wyatt Schwery and Oliver Schwery and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday October 1, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church,720 Orchard Hills Dr, Norwalk, IA 50211. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, September 30 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Norwalk. The Powers family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at Edencrest at Legacy in Norwalk, specifically those in the Gardens for their attentiveness and loving care.
