ROBERT N. SAMUELSON

Robert N. Samuelson, age 84, of Boone, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2010 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.
Robert was born on February 4, 1926, in Boone, IA, the son of Glen Oscar and Anna Mae (Wickstrom) Samuelson.
Robert graduated in 1944 from Jordan High School in Jordan, IA.
On February 9, 1947, Robert was married to Shirley Ann FitzGerald.
Robert was a self-employed farmer. He farmed with his brother, Walter, in Jackson Township for 48 years. Robert and his wife, Shirley, moved to Boone in 1992, then in 2005 they moved to 417 McPherson in Boone.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Boone, a lifetime member of the Boone Elks Club, a member of the Moose Club and also the Boone Golf and Country Club.
Robert enjoyed playing cards and going to coffee with the guys.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters, Margie and Dorothy, his son, Jeffrey and his brother, Walter.
Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Samuelson, of Boone, IA; his son, James M. Samuelson (Cindy) of Elko, MN; his two grandchildren, Patrick R. Samuelson of Minneapolis, MN and Kelsea Vandergriff (Will) of AK; his two great-grandchildren, Finley Vandergriff and Tate Vandergriff of AK; his brother, LaVerne E. Samuelson (Theresa) of Boone; his sister, Alice Larson of Dallas, TX; his sister, Nadine Hoffman of Miami, OK; his daughter-in-law, Meme Samuelson of Galena, IL; his brother-in-law, William Giles of Waukee, IA; his brother-in-law, Douglas FitzGerald (Gerry) of Madera, CA; his sister-in-law, Joan Blosser of Hardy, AR; a special girl, Tasha Lanz of Des Moines, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 19, at the First United Methodist Church located at 703 Arden Street in Boone. Rev. Phil Webb will officiate.
Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 18, at the Walter ~ Schroeder Funeral Home located at Fifth and Story Streets in Boone from 5 to 7 p.m., with the family present at this time. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at the church from 9 a.m. to the time of service at 10:30 a.m.
Memorials may be directed to the family to be used at their discretion.
