RUTH LIPSON
Windsor Heights
Ruth Lipson, 91, died Thursday, April 29, 2009 at her home in Windsor Heights. Graveside services will be 12 p.m. Sunday at Jewish Glendale Cemetery.
Ruth was born in Des Moines on March 10, 1918 to Hyman and Esther Tolchinsky. She devoted her life to making a home for her husband, Charles, and two children as well as supporting, Charles in his grocery, Merle Hay Market.
She was a member of Beth El Jacob Synagogue and Hadassah as well as being Past President of the Beth El Jacob Sisterhood. Ruth supported the community as a Voters Registration volunteer. She enjoyed reading and travel. As a talented pianist she played for synagogue services. She loved to dance and, with her husband, taught ballroom and country western dancing through Adult Education.
Left to cherish Ruth's memory are her children, Marilyn Lipson (James Deacon) of Windham, ME; son, Allan (Miriam) Lipson of Memphis, TN; four grandchildren, Andrew (Candace) Lerman, Matthew (Athena) Lerman, Helaine (Eric) Seaton and Benjamin Lipson; six great grandchildren, Jared Lerman, Derek Lerman, Mallorie Lerman, Jacob Seaton, Tiffany Lerman and Alex Lerman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, parents; and two brothers, Julius and Morris Tolchinsky.
