SHIRLEY J. KINNEY

Shirley Jeanne Anderson Kinney died November 3, 2009. She was born to Maude E. and Fern O. Anderson on February 5, 1936 on the family farm in Bonaparte, IA.
Shirley married Thomas R. Kinney on May 20, 1961. They lived in Johnston for 46 years and raised three daughters, Lori, Lisa, and Linda.
Shirley worked for Pioneer Hi-Bred International for 37 years. A member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church in Johnston, she enjoyed singing with the choir. One of her favorite hobbies was bowling, which took her on many travels throughout her life. Shirley was also a 50-year member of Eastern Star O.E.S. Loved by everyone, Shirley was the first person to lend a helping hand if you needed it. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Tom; daughters, Lori A. Groen of Springfield, IL, Lisa S. Kinney of Phoenix, AZ, and Linda K. (John) Nagel of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Brandon T. Groen, Brady R. Groen, Bryson K. Groen, and Lillie K. Nagel; and siblings, Beverly (Charles) Siekman of Burlington, IA and Donald (Donna) Anderson of Glendale, AZ.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Presbyterian Church in Johnston on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. and visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 6 at Merle Hay Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
