THOMAS LARRY MITCHELL
West Des Moines
Larry Mitchell, 74, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2009. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Larry was born May 30, 1935 in Lamoni, Iowa. He married Lorraine (Rich) Mitchell on April 8, 1955. Together with son Doug, they founded Mitchell Sales Company which they owned and operated with younger son Jeff for 28 years. Larry was a fantastic husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed hunting, fishing, billiards and working with his hands.
Larry is survived by his son, Jeff Mitchell of West Des Moines; three grandchildren, Preston, Julie and Craig Mitchell; and one great-grandchild, Zachary Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Fay Mitchell; parents, Thomas and Esther Mitchell: son, Douglas Mitchell; and three sisters, Boni, Judi and Ila Mae.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at McLaren's Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
