Tonya, 44, passed away December 21, 2012 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. A Celebration of Life service will be at 10 a.m., Sunday, at Merle Hay Funeral Home.
Tonya Lynn Gatrel, daughter of Mike and Sandra (Lawson) Maas, was born November 25, 1968 in Tucson, Arizona. She worked several years at Waukee Elementary and most recently had worked for the Iowa Clinic. Tonya loved working with kids and spending time with her family and friends.
Tonya is remembered by her loving husband, Mark; her children, Brennan Gatrel and Ashley Maas; her parents, Mike and Sandra Maas; her siblings: Tina Young, Jennifer Maas, and Michael Maas; uncle, Robert Hamersley; cousin and close friend, Angie Sprenger; mother-in-law, Patricia Gatrel; brother-in-law, Craig Gatrel; and many other friends and relatives.
Tonya was preceded in death by her grandmother, Doris Gard; aunt, Connie Hamersley; and her father-in-law, Bob Gatrel.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
