Vallerie Vee Walker Roberts Cory, age 49 of Cambridge, Iowa died unexpectedly at her home.

Vallerie was born December 4, 1964 in Burlington, IA to T.J. Walker & Jane Ann. (Johnson) Walker. She grew up in Bloomfield, IA attending both Davis County & Ottumwa Community Schools. She married Jerry Roberts in June 1984, they moved to Lubbuck, Texas for work in 1986 & returned to Iowa following the birth of their son, Troy, in 1988. Val began working at Firestone in June 1989 & worked there until the time of her death.

Val was such a caring & giving person to everyone she knew & even those she didn't know, she just always wanted to help, it is in that spirit that a memorial fund has been established, with all donations collected going to charitable causes in Vallerie's name. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Val Roberts Cory Memorial Fund at Affinity Credit Union 475 NW Hoffman Lane Des Moines, IA 50313-2247.

Vallerie is preceded in death by grandparents, Guy & Georgia (Fouts) Walker and Florance (Prevo) Johnson Rupe, all of Bloomfield. She is survived by her son, Troy Roberts of Des Moines; parents, T.J. (Lee; deceased) Walker of Goldfield, CO and Jane Ann (Johnson) Walker of Ankeny; grandfather, Orville Rupe of Bloomfield; four siblings, Julie (Dan) Presley of Nevada, Lissa (Doug) Jarr of rural Davis County, Mia Walker of Urbandale and Ty Walker (Diane Colton) of West Grove; nieces & nephews, Danni (Joe) Halbrook of Slater, Connor Presley of Ames, Zane Presley of Nevada, Aaron (Rachel) Jarr of Marion, Logan (Jenny) Jarr of Bloomfield, Dakota Meadows of Urbandale, Trevor Walker of rural Davis County and Bayle Walker of West Grove; great nieces & nephew, Joey Halbrook, Leigha Walker & Cassidy Halbrook of Slater; aunts & uncles Larry (Wanda) Walker of rural Davis County, Tommy (Sarah) Johnson of Mooresville, NC, Doy (Mary) Johnson of rural Davis County, Pam (Doug; deceased) Townsend of Bloomfield and Kim Horney of Macomb, IL; many cousins; and numerous friends & co-workers.

Celebration of Vallerie's Life will take place May 6, 2014 at the USW Local 310 Union Hall at 125 NW Broadway Des Moines, IA 50313. Beginning at noon visitors may stop in and share their memories of Val, family will be in attendance beginning at 6 pm, with a balloon release scheduled for 7 pm led by the Women on Steel.
