Henri R. Nussbaum

Sterling Heights - Henri R. Nussbaum passed away peacefully on January 1, 2019, in Sterling Heights, Michigan. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Nell (Humeniuk) Nussbaum and beloved only son Frederic (Kathryn). He will be fondly remembered by his two grandson's Adam (Kyla) and Kyle; great-grandchildren Jackie Nussbaum and Mason Uildriks and the rest of his family and friends.

Henri was born in 1925 and raised in southern France, the eldest son of Jules Nussbaum and Jeanne (Bermont) Nussbaum and brother to the late Serge Nussbaum. He joined the army and in 1942 joined the French Resistance until the liberation in 1945. He then studied and graduated as a Professeur of Physical Education in 1948.

He came to the USA in 1954 and was married in 1955 where he made his home in Detroit, Michigan. He had a lifelong passion for health and fitness and had a 30 plus year career as a masso-therapist caring for many well known families in the area and celebrities who visited. Additionally, he became an instructor opening a school of massage training hundreds in the Metro area.

Henri brought his upbeat positive personality to several hobbies throughout his life including barbershop singing, golfing, travel and entertaining. Over the last several years, Henri spent time visiting the Sterling Heights Senior Center where he made new friendships and shared important memories with many area World War II Veterans. His was a life thoroughly enjoyed and well lived.

Respecting Henri's wishes - no service will be held. Donation's may be made in Henri's memory to The Salvation Army - 615 Slaters Lane, PO Box 269 Alexandria VA 22313.
