James Ciennik Obituary

James J. Ciennik

Warren - May 5, 1934 - January 19, 2021. Age 86.

Beloved husband of the late and forever beautiful Mary Ann (nee Kovack) for 65 years. Loving father of Jaime Ann (Terry) Sarnowski, James III (Renee) Ciennik and Stephen (Theresa) Ciennik. Dearest grandfather of Ryan, James IV (Liz), Andrew (Aubrey), Troy (Ashley), Natalia (Andi) Opari, Jenna, Stephen Jr. and great grandfather of Leo Sarnowski. Dear brother of the late Helen Hudas.

Upon graduation from Denby H.S., Jim served in the U.S. Naval Reserve Surface Battalion 9-20, Division 9-90, during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, Jim followed his Father's footsteps into the financial services industry - laying the groundwork for what would become Ciennik Financial Group, Inc. - a third-generation firm, that recently celebrated it's 100th anniversary.

Industry accomplishments include membership in the Premier Association of Financial Professionals-MDRT, International Association of Registered Financial Consultants, National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and recognized as one of Detroit's Select Wealth Managers by Hour Detroit and DBusiness magazines.

In addition to passionately serving his clients, Jim was active within the Michigan Sheriffs' Association, Fraternal Order of Police, Detroit Sportsman's Congress, International Order of the Alhambra Sancho Caravan #261 and was a member and past President of the Polish Century Club of Detroit where he recently received the Distinguished Member Award.

Jim was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren and cherished his time spent with them. A wise counselor, patient listener and loving friend. Always encouraging them to do the right thing, the right way, at the right time. He also embraced travelling the world with the love of his life, Mary Ann, but most of all - enjoyed the time shared together at a place they called paradise, Marco Island.

The Ciennik family welcomed family and friends in Jim's honor this past Saturday at St. Mary, Our Lady Queen of Families. Jim was entombed alongside Mary Ann, at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East. Memorial contributions to The Polish Century Club of Detroit Scholarship Fund, The Power Company Kid's Club, or The American Cancer Society are appreciated. Hey Jimmy the III...so very sorry to hear of the passing of your father...not ever having a father, whenever I saw him, I thought, that’s who I would have wanted my father to emulate...take care my friend...Love, David, Pat and Larry
