TAUBE JOAN (NEE MAHER) April 14, 2012 in Stuart, Florida, surrounded by her loving family. Age 73, of Rochester Hills, and Stuart, FL. Born in Detroit, Michigan on August 28, 1938 to the late Gilbert and Mary (nee Graves) Maher. She graduated from Annunciation High School in 1956. She married the love of her life, Frank Taube in 1958 and they have lived in East Detroit, Southfield, Birmingham, and Rochester Hills, Michigan as well as Mariner Sands in Stuart, Florida. Joan leaves behind her five adoring children and their spouses, Patricia and Anthony Vizzini, Frank and Laura Taube, Kate and John Brewer, John and Sue Taube, and Joannie and Aaron Morris. Fourteen fabulous grandchildren, Bradley, Maggie, Anthony, Ryan, Katrina, Brittany, Lindsay, Elizabeth, Sean, Steven, Kyle, Rose, Kelsey, and Rebecca, ages 27 to 10. Nine of the 14 grandchildren are currently in college or graduate school. She also leaves behind her cherished younger sister, Gilberta Carlile and many treasured nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Joan is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Mary Margaret McHenry, Irene Lotzar, and Patricia Waligora who passed away just a month ago. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Rochester Hills, Michigan and St. Christopher in Stuart, Florida. Joan was known as a very intelligent and creative person who lived life to the fullest. She was manager for many years of the Southfield Tri-Parish Credit Union and together with her husband Frank began many Michigan small businesses. She was very active in the community: from starting a large family organization, leading cub scouts, church groups, managing softball teams, and private philanthropy. She lived her life helping and enjoying family, friends, and playing games. Her favorite hobby was playing any kind of card game especially poker and euchre with her grandchildren. She led a full life through travel, golf and family. A true Irish lady. Family will receive friends at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Ave. (between 13-14 Mile) Thursday 4-8 p.m. and Friday 2-8 p.m. Vigil Service Thursday evening. Funeral Mass Saturday 11:30 a.m. at St. Bonaventure Monastery, 1820 Mt. Elliott, Detroit. Visitation at the Monastery begins at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family gently requests that donations be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1740 Mt.
