Ruth Domnica , 84, of Livonia, Mich., passed away peacefully Aug. 1, 2017, of natural causes at Landings of Genesee Valley in Flint, Mich. She was born Jan. 30, 1933, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of George Creanga and Anastasia Zomborean, both Romanian immigrants who came to this country in the early 1900s.

Ruth graduated from Brown City High School in 1950 and worked as a bookkeeper at a local auto dealer for the next few years. When her family moved to Detroit, she began working at Ford Motor Co. headquarters as a clerk-typist and attended night school. Ruth graduated with an executive secretarial degree at the Detroit Business Institute and was reassigned as a secretary to the industrial relations manager at the new Ford central offices. When her husband John went into business for himself repairing electronic organs, she became his secretary and bookkeeper, and they successfully ran their business for over 27 years. Ruth was baptized when she was 11 years old at Oakman Boulevard Baptist Church in Detroit (formerly Second Romanian Baptist Church). This is where she and John were also married. Singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School to toddlers, and working with Boys & Girls Bible Clubs hosting summer backyard Bible clubs were some of the things that Ruth enjoyed. For years, John and Ruth had attended Trinity Baptist Church in Livonia. She was always patient; had a kind smile, and words of encouragement to offer to those who knew her; she was a wise and loving mother.

She is survived by her three children - son Paul (Laura) Aghababian of Fenton, Mich., son Nishan (Chihiro) Aghababian of Hopewell, N.J. and daughter Sharon (Mark) Pape of Pinedale, Wyo., 12 grandchildren Amanda and Nicholas Aghababian, Anoush, Aznive, Anahys, Azad and Aram Aghababian, Mark, Stephanie, Jennifer, Olivia and Mitchell Pape, three great-grandchildren, and sister Esther Churella. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Anna Ceanga and her husband of 57 years, John Aghababian.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Edward Korkoian Funeral Home 836 N. Main Street, Royal Oak (248) 541-8325. Interment at Oakview Cemetery, Royal Oak.
