Celebration of life: 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
Memorials: can be sent to the Alexei Sultanov Benefit Fund at South Trust Bank, 6000 Harris Parkway, Fort Worth 76132.
Married in 1990 to fellow musician, Dace, Alexei made his home in Fort Worth while traveling the globe giving concerts to the acclaim of critics and fans alike.
After suffering debilitating physical problems in 2001, Alexei entered the final chapter of his life. Constantly battling to overcome his physical limitations, Alexei managed to maintain his positive attitude toward life, which was an inspiration to all who knew him. As he regained strength in his right hand, he and his wife brought their music to nursing homes, schools and hospitals -- anywhere they could share their message of hope and their mantra, "Never Give Up!"
Although he only lived for 35 years, his star will continue to shine through his all-encompassing positive energy, his music and through those who loved him.
Survivors: his wife; his parents, Faizul Sultanov and Natalia Pogorelova; and his brother, Sergei, all of Moscow.

Dace and Family,
We love you dearly and although Alexei has gone to heaven now our prayers are still forever with you. You and Alexei have touched my life in a way that will not be changed. I am sure you and Alexei would both find it humorous that I am now attempting to learn the piano, perhaps one day I can play a song for him. We love you. Mikala

Dace, I met you and Alexei at the Benbrook YMCA when you played there. You were so inspirational and I enjoyed meeting you both. I am very sorry for your loss and hope that you find some comfort in knowing how much your dear husband gave to this world before he left.

Daci, We were so sorry to hear that Alexi had left his earthly home. My husband, Ray, was in the NICU at Plaza Medical Hospital for 19 days, including Christmas 2004, not expected to live. Things were bleak and then you two came and gave a mini concert for the NICU. You were such a blessing and really lifted us up. Your music was so moving and beautiful. We sure don't know why things happen the way they do, but we have to accept and move on. DACI, You will be in our prayers, for I know Alexi was your whole life. Please keep playing your cello. You have so much to give. In our prayers and may God hold you,Ray and Jo Smith
