B. F. Hank Carroll

Fort Worth, Texas - B.F. "Hank" Carroll of Fort Worth, Texas passed away peacefully on March 4, 2024 in Plano, Texas after a brief illness. He was 93 years old.
Hank was born in the small town of Gatesville, Texas on April 19, 1930 to Merle Monroe Carroll and Rhueina Stout Carroll. He graduated from Gatesville High School, Tarleton State College and North Texas State University. He married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn Elaine Johnson, on August 23, 1951, who preceded him in death on June 12, 2010. They made their home in Fort Worth and had two children. He is survived by many loving family members and friends.
As the Treasurer and CFO of Greenwood-Mount Olivet Cemetery Association in Fort Worth from 1967 until 2010, Hank made a significant impact on the Fort Worth landscape. One of his last and proudest contributions was leading the realization of the nationally-recognized Independence Chapel addition to the Greenwood Mausoleum. After his retirement, he remained in leadership at Greenwood until his death as a member of the Board of Trustees.
He was the epitome of a servant leader, having served in numerous roles over the years, including among others: President, Texas Cemeteries Association; Treasurer, Moslah Shrine Temple; Treasurer and Director, Miss Texas Scholarship Pageant; Conference Lay Leader, Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church; Delegate, General Conference of the United Methodist Church; Delegate, 1991 World Methodist Conference in Singapore; Officer and Director, Fort Worth Jaycees.
Hank was honored as an Outstanding Alumni of Gatesville High School and an Outstanding Christian Layman of Fort Worth by the Fort Worth Jaycees. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1958. As a world traveler, he visited over 80 countries during his lifetime. He was a member of Colonial Country Club for over 50 years, and a member of the Petroleum Club, Carousel Dance Club, Moslah Patrol, Moslah Shrine Temple, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Downtown Rotary Club, Fort Worth Jaycees, Fort Worth Air Power Council, and First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Greenwood Funeral Home in Fort Worth. A Celebration of Life will be held at Live Oak Chapel at Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 2:30 PM. Entombment will follow in the Independence Chapel of the Greenwood Mausoleum.
