Barry Weaver Obituary

Barry Warren Weaver
October 15, 1944 - November 6, 2021
Benbrook, Texas - Barry Warren Weaver, 77, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 6, 2021.
Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday November 26, 2021 at Greenwood Funeral Home. Graveside funeral: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2021 in Greenwood Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life will follow at Cooper's Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que in the Stockyards because Barry never wanted a sad funeral and always said he just wanted folks to throw a party and talk about him.
Barry was born on October 15, 1944 in Sugar Land, Texas but grew up and lived most of his life in the River Oaks, Texas area. He attended Castleberry ISD schools from first grade through graduation and was a three-sport letterman in high school. His favorite sport he enjoyed the most was basketball which earned him a college scholarship. He attended college at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas that was interrupted by some grade mishaps caused by a little too much fun (as he admitted), and also being drafted in to the Army during the height of the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Europe which sparked his affinity for travel. Barry remained friends with many high school and college classmates throughout his whole life. He ultimately graduated in 1970 with a business degree.
In 1972 he married wife, Bonnie, and they continued to live in River Oaks as he worked in banking. During his life Barry was a successful banker and restauranteur. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and the best Grampa his three grandchildren could have asked for. He always emphasized how important family is and passed that on to his sons. He loved family gatherings, especially the annual Weaver Reunion.
Barry is preceded in death by parents, Walter Warren Weaver and Leona Vlasta Talasek Weaver; wife, Bonnie Weaver; and daughter, Blythe LeAlyce Weaver.
He is survived by sister, Peggy Weaver Atherton; son, Brandon Warren Weaver and wife, Katherine; son, Brent Weylin Weaver and wife, Janelle; son, Bevan Wylie Weaver; and three grandchildren, Aidynn, Bryce, and Allen; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Barry was lucky enough during his life to find two women who would put up with him for any length of time: his wife, Bonnie, and close companion, Janette Land. After the death of Bonnie in 2015, Janette became a dear friend, travel buddy, nursemaid, and psychotherapist, among many other roles.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Warm Place, 809 Lipscomb, Fort Worth, Texas 76104 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, c/o Donor Relations, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607.
