Benny was a great friend, and I was saddened by the loss of him. I would have gone to his service, had I known when and where it was to be held. I regret that when he last called me, I was at a restaraunt, and unable to talk with him. He told me he was headed back to the hospital, and was gone 2 days later. I will miss him greatly.

My dad was a good man and always had a smile on his face…. Dr Cappell called him a tough old boot,,, we used to laugh that he kept going because of duct tape and gorilla glue…. We have so many good memories of summers spent camping and fishing… we were such good fisherman ,,,he would have to tell me and my sisters if you catch it you clean it… more recently I spent a lot of time with my dad taking him to appointments and stuff and he would tell me stories of his life… he had a really good life. Recently we received some bad news at one of his Dr visits and he told me “Rhonda I just want you to know that I have been a very lucky man,,, I have had a good wife, good daughters, a good career, and you know not everybody is that lucky… one time when I was teasing him about how he could have put up with my mom for so long he told me that it was because she had hypnotized him… one thing is for certain he always knew he was loved..

The world lost but heaven gained. Benny was my 2nd dad my older brother my friend but most of all he was and will always be my teacher , mentor and coach. If I know him he is up there right now with Joe Watson yelling at us ,"Come on boys let's go to the park and play some football" ! One thing Benny don't think you will get rid of me this easy. I will see you again someday.

Coach Davis was a great teacher, coach and example of a good person/citizen. I knew him from Daggett Middle School. At an informal DMS reunion last Saturday (at Dennis Martin's) we wondered how he was doing. He was a "mentor" before that term was ever coined. You don't come across men like Coach Davis too often. Those of us that were lucky enough to even known him at all were truly lucky. My deepest sympathy to his family.

With heavy heart I pray The Lord brings comfort to your family. You have given love for many years. I can only reflect on what our elders have given to each of us, Believe and you shall be at peace. The Lord shall not permit you to suffer more than you can .

Coach Davis,

Even though it's been several years since I have seen you, I never forgot how much you taught me as a kid growing up. You truly put your all into coaching and I thank you for that.
My sincere condolences,
David Govea
