Billie Perry McDaniel Obituary

Billie Perry McDaniel
December 3, 1926 - October 21, 2021
Fort Worth, Texas - Billie Perry McDaniel, age 94, of Fort Worth, Texas passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on October 21, 2021. Billie was born December 3, 1926, in Kiefer, Oklahoma, the third of five children. She grew up in Idabel, Oklahoma, graduating from high school in 1944. Billie moved to Texarkana where she worked at the local defense plant during WWII. There she met James (Jay) Perry. They married May 16, 1947, and were happy together for 37 years until Jay's death in 1984.
Billie and Jay raised three daughters, Debbie, Dana, and Pam. While a fulltime homemaker, Billie tirelessly cooked, cleaned, and shuttled the kids to activities. During the girls' teenage years, she worked as a secretary in the Fort Worth Courthouse, making extra money for their college fund.
Billie was baptized into Christ in 1965. By faithfully taking her girls to church, Billie helped them build their faith in the Lord. For years, after each church service, she proudly cooked pot roast for family, friends, and of course, prospective sons-in-law.
In 1991 she married Noah Thomas Shirley. They enjoyed traveling in Tom's airstream until his death in 1993. In 1999 she married John "Mac" McDaniel. They lived happily on his ranch in Keene, Texas until his death in 2002.
She was devoted to her grandchildren. Christine and Wimberley called her "cake Memaw" because she loved baking cakes and cookies with them. Jay, Chris, and Amy cherished Memaw attending school plays, family vacations, and dance recitals. Memaw took Jamie and John to everything from ball practice to band activities. She even got a black eye pitching to John! On holidays the grandkids delighted in cooking with Memaw, like making pralines, and chowing down her yummy treats.
Billie was a member of Altamesa Church of Christ for many years. She later attended Southside Church of Christ to worship with Dana and Jim. Billie loved to help others by cooking for the sick or bereaved, and for church events. Well-known for her pecan pies, banana pudding and TONS of candy at Christmas, MeMaw gave sweets to family, friends, and the all the church ministers. Her pralines, almond crunch and peanut brittle were unmatched!
As Billie's health declined, her loving friend Vanessa Hill and her family cared for Billie. Recently Billie emphasized her love for Vanessa asking, "Where would I be without Vanessa?"
Billie was preceded in death by her sisters, Geneva Lambert and Betty Collings, and her brother Carl Dees. Billie is survived by her sister, Nancy Chamberlain of Garden Grove, California; her daughters and their husbands: Debbie and Dan Wilson of Big Bear, California; Dana and Jim Sager of Fort Worth, Texas; and Doctors Pam and Tom Greene of Temple, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Christine Cook, her husband Gary, and children Graydon and Dylan; Wimberley Richey, her husband Brian, and children Bennett and Camille; Dr. Jay Greene, his wife Katie, and children Avery and Hallie; Chris Greene, his wife Lauren, and children Christopher and Alton; Amy Huddleston, her husband Levi, and children Samuel and Catherine Marie; John Sager and his wife Claire; and Jamie Goad and her husband Harrison.
Visitation will be held on November 11, 2021, from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at Greenwood Funeral Home, 3100 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. The memorial service will be on November 12, 2021, at 10:00 am at Southside Church of Christ, 2101 Hemphill Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76110.
Flowers may be sent to the Greenwood Funeral Home. Donations in Billie's memory may be sent to Neema Village in Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa, a rescue center for abandoned and orphaned babies: neemavillage.org.

Whenever I would greet my Aunt Bill, it was always a loud moment! Hollering, " Aunt Bill," she would respond with an equally exuberant, " Bun!" God made only ONE Aunt Bill. As much as she and my daddy loved to banter back and forth, I can only imagine daddy was there at the Pearly Gates to greet her with a " Billie Marie!" Memories of her are a blessing and thinking of her brings a smile to my face. Spent many summers with Debbie, PERRY DAWG, and Dana and Pam, THE POOKIES. Aunt Bill loved me and I felt the love. She was my aunt, but she was far more. One of the times she was in the hospital, I phoned Dana. I heard Dana ask her if she knew who it was on the phone and I heard Aunt Bill say, "Bun." Cherish that memory. Thank you, Aunt Bill, for... the laughter, the matching outfits you made DebDeb and me, the concern about our love lives, the warm concern about our lives, putting up with my crazy Daddy when he brought up Holy Creek, the endless meals you cooked with love, making me feel like a family member, and always being happy to see me. DebDeb and I had numerous happy summers in Ft. Worth and Texarkana, TEXAS! This TEXAS LONGHORN leaves you with a final gift, "GIG´EM!" Love you dearly and always, "BUN."
