Blake Mitchell, 31, passed away Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, in Los Angeles, Calif. Memorial service: 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at McKinney Church in Fort Worth, officiated by Bill Kraftson. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of customary remembrances, the family asks that contributions be made to Cornerstone Church of West L.A., with memo: Blake Mitchell Memorial Fund, 1609 S. Barrington Ave., Los Angeles, Calif. 90025. Blake was born Feb. 28, 1982, in Fort Worth. Blake was a graduate of Trinity Valley High School and USC Film School, with honors, where he won many awards in film festivals and competitions. At the time of his death, Blake was editing and producing for various television shows. Without Blake, there is a little less joy in the world. Blake was fun, funny, imaginative and a tremendous creative talent. He lived life large. It is sad that the world will never appreciate his incredible potential to entertain through music, storytelling and film. While everyone who knew him is devastated by Blake's untimely and unexpected death, we are grateful for and blessed by the time we had with him. In the time since Blake's death, we have found comfort in the company of mourners who have surrounded us in love. Most importantly, we know that the Lord is with us in these dark and difficult days. Jesus was "a man of sorrows acquainted with grief." (Isaiah 53:3) In John 11, Jesus wept at the loss of his friend Lazarus. But the story did not end there. Jesus knew He possessed the power to raise Lazarus from the dead. Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die." (John 11:24). His family is thankful that Blake knew Jesus Christ as his Savior. We know that our Blake now lives in glory with the Almighty. He will forever be in our hearts. Survivors: Blake leaves behind to celebrate and give thanks for his life, his father and mother, Dwight and Lore Mitchell; his sister, Stacy; and his brother Cameron, all of whom reside in Fort Worth; and many loving extended family members.
