Bryan Pennebaker Obituary

Bryan John Pennebaker was called home to Heaven suddenly on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017. Service: Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Cathedral with Rev. Luke Robertson, T.O.R., celebrant. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. A rosary and eulogies will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday followed by a visitation until 4 p.m. at Thompson's Harveson & Cole. Memorials: The Sisters of Saint Mary of Namur, 909 West Shaw Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76110; [email protected] Bryan was born in Livonia, Michigan to Patricia Gokey Pennebaker and Kenneth Joseph Pennebaker and raised in North Little Rock, Ark. He graduated from Catholic High and earned a B.S in Finance from TCU in 1980. It was at TCU that he met his wife, Leslie Fleming Pennebaker. Bryan began his career as a banker at Fort Worth National Bank and later transitioned into entrepreneurial real estate. Married for 33 years, Bryan and Leslie have three children, Anne, Kate and Jack. Bryan was immensely proud when his daughters chose to further their educations at TCU. And, when his son Jack decided to attend the University of Oklahoma and follow his footsteps in joining Delta Tau Delta fraternity, this loving father was more than happy to fill his closet with an array of Sooner colors and clothing. Bryan was his family's hero, anchor, advisor, sounding board, problem solver and cheerleader. Anne, Kate and Jack recall their Dad coaching all of their sports teams and attending every school activity — from French Honor Society gatherings to golf matches. He will always be remembered for his avid love of all things related to TCU, especially Horned Frog sports. He will especially be missed by his Friday morning breakfast group, Sunday golf buddies, fantasy football competitors and longtime friends. A man of quiet faith, Bryan was a stalwart member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church and cherished the fellowship of his Bible study group. While his children were in school, he was an active and devoted supporter of St. Andrew's School and Nolan Catholic School. The terms selfless, loyal, intelligent and wicked sense of humor arise repeatedly in descriptions of Bryan. Bryan was intensely proud of his children and constantly referred to Anne, Kate and Jack as "his greatest accomplishments." His inner strength was magnificently evident as he shepherded his family through life's difficult chapters, including the loss of two siblings and Leslie's recent cancer diagnosis. Bryan is preceded in death by his father; sister, Dee Dee Pennebaker; and brother, Mark Pennebaker. Survivors: In addition to his wife and children, other survivors include his mother, Patricia Gokey Pennebaker; and sisters, Mary Pennebaker and Laura Eppley and her husband, Rod.

I had the opportunity to work in the same office as Bryan for the past 6 months. Even though it was a short time I enjoyed how he made us all smile and always lighted up the place with his great sense of boldness. He will be missed greatly. My prayers go out to the Pennebaker family May God give you peace and comfort.

Dearest Leslie, Kate, Anne and Jack,

The Brooks family has a special place in our hearts for your family. Hallie found happiness and joy every minute she shared with your family. Leslie, you and Bryan were definitely her "second" mom and dad. Bryan treated her like she was one of the family the many times she was a guest in your home. He was a person that just exuded happiness. We are heartbroken for this loss and are praying for you all. Know that we love you and have you on our hearts.

Will certainly miss Bryan and hope all his friends surround the family with lots of love and offers to help. I'll really miss discussing TCU athletics with him. Deeply religious, thoughtful, caring man.
