Dear Bonnie,
We tried to contatct IBCZ several times in the last nine months or so to find out where and how you are, but never had an answer, and settling down in Cyprus has been so much overwhelming than we'd expected. An explanation, but not an excuse, why we've taken SO long to finally sit down and find out what's going on. I kept waking up in the night last night from dreams about Cary--some memories (my 25th birthday party, 13 years ago!!, certain sermons, you being the first ones we told about being pregnant with Marie, the visits in Switzerland, etc.), but I also kept knocking at your door, and there was always somebody else there who kept telling me "Cary is fine, but you can't see him." In the last dream, as I was walking away from the house, Cary came from a beautiful garden behind the house and we talked for a couple of minutes, peacefully, but so briefly. I got up this morning determined to find out where he is, and found this. I'm so, so sorry for you and Alexander and Nathanael, and so happy for Cary to be out of pain and in God's presence, although I'm sure he would rather have put that off for a bit longer to be with you. We loved Cary, we will continue to love and pray for you, and would love to hear from you.

Dear Bonnie, although it has been several years since we have spoke you remain so very dear to Sandy and I. God is go good that he would allow us to share time with you and Cary in Dusseldorf together in the 90's and to grow together in the Lord as we did. We celebrate God's goodness and rest in His promise. With joy we look forward to the time we will spend with Him together. Please know that you are loved and that we loved Cary. We pray that God may bless you with His presence, wisdom, comfort and grace.

Dear Bonnie, I am so sorry to read about Cary. Ralph went to IBC Dusseldorf today (2 Aug 09)while on business and called me (we now live in El Paso, TX) and said I wonder where Bonnie and Cary are now. I found this announcement online. We are deeply saddened, but of course, we KNOW that Cary is with the Lord, and what an awesome place. Our memories together in Dusseldorf, Scandinavia and Switzerland are very dear to us. We pray that God would comfort you and your boys, and that He would fill you with HIS Peace.

Bonnie - I talked with Kelly MacKenzie just yesterday and heard about Cary's death. My heart hurts for you and the boys and all of his family as you go through this time of great grief. Knowing he is with the Lord is such a comfort, I know, but I am sure that missing him is overwhelming sometimes. I remember when you two met and your excitement to marry him. Know that you were such a gift to him, as he was to you. I hope to catch up with you if you end up back in Fort Worth.
Love, Phyllis

To the entire Quillin family, I send my deepest sympathy. Although my encounter with Cary was brief, I will never forget the moment he comforted me on my recent loss. We all shared a prayer and when he and Bonnie told me of what was to come, I was so touched by his complete acceptance of God's will. I knew I was in the presence of someone special. He is now in our Lord's hands; let us rejoice! We, as Christians are consoled in the thought that we will someday meet again.

I was shocked to see Cary's obituary yesterday. I believe it was a "God thing" that I even saw it. I do not normally read the obituaries but I was looking for the obituary of the father of another friend and happened to see Cary's obituary.

Cary was an employer, mentor and friend to me. He hired me as a summer intern at his law office, coached me as I prepped for the LSAT and got ready to head off to law school and I was privileged to worship with him for some time at North Beach Street Church of Christ. I had mostly lost touch with him after he moved to Zurich.

I had hoped to re-connect sometime and even visit him in Europe. I'll just take a rain check till we meet in heaven.

The Quillin family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Hello Bonnie,
I have been praying for you all for months and have been trying to find your address. Today, 'by chance' I did a google search and came across this obituary. Wish I could have contacted Cary before his death. I am so sorry for your loss. Cary has truly 'graduated' and is doing better now than ever before, as you of course know. I am comforted to know that the worst we ever experience in this life as believers is the worst we will every experience. May the Lord comfort and strengthen you and the kids. We love you.

Hey Bonnie,
I don't know if you remember Gavin and I (Robertson), but we worshiped with you and Cary at the International Baptist Church of Dusseldorf. We left in 1996...anyway, we live in Arlington now and saw Cary's obituary in the Star-Telegram. We are so sorry to read of his passing, but we know he is with Jesus now! Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers, too. We have such great memories of our time in Germany, and if you are ever back in our part of the world...look us up...we are in the phone book, and we go to Fellowship of the Metroplex.

God Bless,
Gavin and Holly

Cary and I were childhood friends at Westcliff Elementary, and we graduated together from Paschal. I remember visiting with him a couple of times while in college - he was at U.T., and I was at St. Edward's - but we'd lost touch since that era. Please accept our sincere condolences, from my family to all of the Quillin family.

To the Quillin family, my heart hurts for you at this time, but I also rejoice with you in Cary's final victory in Jesus!

I have so many fond memories of Cary that will stay with me forever: the Quillin family return to Fort Worth from when you were living out of state, high school at Paschal, Youth Choir at Travis, staying with Cary over a football week-end in Austin that made my mind up to transfer there, countless rounds of golf, and the last time we spoke by phone in December 2008, stand out so vividly in my mind.

Cary was my friend, dear to me in so many ways; he will be missed. He has left a legacy for those who knew him, and I for one, will always be grateful for that.

May God continue to bless you in this difficult time.

A very very close friend who has meant so much to me over the years at various crossroads of my life. A man of strong faith in God and devotion to his family. Our prayers are with the family. Cary is now free of pain and at peace.
