Clarence Swisher
November 30, 1942 - June 1, 2021
Burleson, Texas - Clarence Milton "Butch" Swisher was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on November 30, 1942. A Kennedale/Fort Worth-area resident his entire life, he passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 1, 2021, in Dallas, Texas.
He was quick with a smile. Quick with a joke. And always quick to lend a hand to a friend in need.
He was rightfully proud of his military service, both in active duty and in the reserves for the Air Force. He made lifelong friends through his service to our country.
He loved volunteering his time to help others. He worked for years with the Lions Club and spent countless weekends devoted to Scouting, with Troop 221 in Joshua, Texas.
He didn't just love donating his time. He also donated volumes of his own blood. It meant a lot to him. He did it on a regular basis and always encouraged others to do so as well.
Butch loved his family, his friends and his coworkers very much. And, at the end of the day, he always loved to make 'em laugh.
He is survived by his brother, Tudor Mills. His five children: Charles Kevin Swisher, Cynthia Dawn Swisher, Clinton Wayne Swisher, Chad Eric Swisher and Matthew Tyrone Williams. His six grandchildren: Paxton, Mikah, Savannah, Seth, Denton and Addison. And one great-grandchild: Layla.
He was married to Jo Nell Johnson and Charlotte Carroll. He was last married to Virginia "Ginny" Mary Chase from June 22, 2001, until her passing on Nov. 20, 2012.
His ashes will be laid to rest at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery (2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas) on Monday, June 21, at 1 p.m. A memorial will follow at Arlington Memorial Funeral Home (2811 Galleria Drive, Arlington) at 2 p.m. A reception will follow at the same location at 3 p.m.
