Clay was born Feb. 19, 1976, in Fort Worth. He later moved with his family to Houston and finally to Dallas. He was a graduate of R.L. Turner High School and was employed at K-O Electronics, where he enthusiastically loved his work and his fellow employees.
Our free-spirited Clay was a joy to all and a ray of sunshine in our hearts. Remembrances of his unconditional love and devotion to his family, his friends and his pets will sustain us until we are joined with him again. In his short life, Clay has left us with an abundance of beautiful memories, fun times and many good laughs.
Our greatest loss is Heaven's gain.

I'm Clay's aunt and Shirley's sister Kay. How can I express the true essence of a person like Clay -- he was the sunshine in my life, always full of enthusiasm and energy and always upbeat, a best friend and first cousin of my son James, and always met me with a big hug and such excitement. Talked a mile a minute!! He even talked me into taking a cat (Zoe)(even though I had four dogs!) from the Vet where he worked with all his enthusiasm - "this is a great cat, Kay, you'll love it!! You've got to have it!!" --Clay probably could have talked anyone into anything!! My son James took one of his cats Maui to Yonkers, NY to live with him - who could help but love Clay and want something that was meaningful to him. I love you Clay Koonce - you were like a second son to me - and I will miss you immeasurably!! Kay

I will miss Clay so much. I work at Lake Country Animal Hospital where he often brought animals from Dr. Andra's clinic to be xrayed. He always had a smile on his face and was such an awesome person to be around. I was always happy to see him walk thru the door. He will be so missed.

Clay,
I didnt know you very well, but I will always remember the times when I would go to the animal hospital in Addison to see Leanne and you always showed a joy in your job, Wendell, and all of the animals in the Clinic. I could always tell that you were happy. God will take care of you and he will make sure that you have peace. God Bless You.

I am very sad to see such a young and wonderful life pass. Clay was a great friend and a talented musician. I am blessed beyond words to have had a really great conversation with him a few months ago. His words were powerful, encouraging, and very helpful to me. He was a huge light in my husbands life. He was bright and one of a kind. I pray for God to bring his family peace. I will miss seeing you and Wendel walking by every day... Thanks for your kind words and being such a great friend to Maceo.

I rember one of the times we all headed to Turner Falls, OK. The Bongo in the background, the water running down the stream, and the laughter of teenagers scurring through the night. We were in search?

My childhood would not have been the same without Clay, and I know this loss is immeasurable for those close to him. From elementary school through jr. high I was mesmerized by his relentless charisma. He was more like a local celebrity than a classmate. I will always remember him as a smiling, sweet, hilarious and charming guy. My thoughts are with Clay's family and friends tonight, as this is certainly a time of immense sadness.
