Delores C Quiroz
June 28, 1935 - January 13, 2021
Fort Worth, Texas - On Wednesday, January 13, 2021 Delores Contreras-Quiroz, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away after a brief illness at the age of 85.
Delores was born to Dora and Vicente Contreras on June 28, 1935, and was life-long resident of Ft. Worth, TX. She graduated from R L Paschal High School, and later went on to business school, followed by a career with the US Weather Bureau, where she finally retired.
Delores was a founding member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Ft. Worth and was a very active member in the Garden Club, having held the position of president multiple times over the years. She also took part in the IGNC (International Good Neighbor Council), a foundation dedicated to promoting goodwill and unity between the United States and Mexico, and as served as Secretary for the Pan American Round Table, a women's organization dedicated to fostering mutual understanding, knowledge, and friendship among peoples of the Western Hemisphere.
On June 1, 1958 Delores married Leonard Quiroz and spent the next 63 years loving the family they created. She could be found on weekends serving at the local chapter of Knights of Columbus, where she and Leonard were known for shutting the place down with late night card games along with friends that lasted a life-time. She loved to play board games with her family any chance she got, and often was the one begging for "just one more" well into the wee hours of the morning. Summer vacations at the beach were some of her favorite times and also where some of the best memories were made. She was known as the life of the party, and had a laugh that could fill a room. Delores will always be remembered for her quick wit and infectious spirit.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Vicente and Dora, her daughter, Rebecca, and her grandson Michael. She is survived by her husband, Leonard, children, Ron and Lisa, grandchildren Amber, David, Alex, Lauren, Brandon, and Elizabeth, and great-grandchildren, Caleb and Ethan.
Services will be held at St Bartholomew Church, on Friday, February 5, 2021 at 10 am. The burial will follow at Laurel Land Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to 3601 Altamesa Blvd., Fort Worth, TX 76133.
