Donna Schlotzhauer Obituary

Donna Beaird Schlotzhauer, a market manager for a local airline, passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009.
Memorial/visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis, Arlington.
Donna was born May 31, 1949, in Birmingham, Ala., to Don and Marjorie Beaird. She graduated from Sam Houston High School in Arlington and enrolled in UT Arlington. In 1969 Donna won the Miss Arlington Pageant, and competed in the Miss Texas Pageant. There, she won a scholarship to the Meadows School at SMU. She graduated from SMU with a bachelor of fine arts and went to work for an amusement park in Kansas City as a choreographer. After 6 1/2 years Donna moved back home to Arlington and went to work at American Airlines. April 2009 would have been her 30th year.
As a market manager for the airline she primarily had Hawaii as her market and developed many close friends there, and is considered "ohana" (family) there. In 1983 Donna met her husband, Steve Schlotzhauer of Phoenix, Ariz., and they settled in Arlington.
Donna continued to be active in community theater as a dancer and greatly enjoyed the friends she developed there. Donna was devoted to her family and her Dalmatians. She was a bright, beautiful person with a positive outlook and an engaging laugh and everyone loved her. She made everyone around her feel better.
Her family deeply appreciates the kindness and care shown them from everyone who knew Donna.
She was preceded in death by her father, Don Beaird of Arlington.
Survivors: Husband, Steve; mother, Marjorie Beaird of Arlington; brother, Russell Beaird and wife, Claudia, of Douglasville, Ga.; and nephew, Nick Beaird and wife, Caroline, of Chicago, Ill.

I was shocked to here about Donna.
She was my first dance partner at
MISS PERSIS. I was in the fifth grade, she the fourth but she always kepted me in line. Those were good times. Even though it had been years since I had spoken to her I thought of her offten. She will be missed by many.

To Donna's family,
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you all. Donna was a tremendous help to me when I first hit AA RM/YLD MGMT 24 years ago. I took over "her" Hawaii markets, although with less success most would say! She made AA proud and will be missed.

My memories of Donna began when she was 3 years old, and Shirley and I wished that we could adopt her as our own. But, being neighbors, we could only keep wishing. We were blessed that Don, Margie and Russell allowed us to share her early years. We always felt that she was one of the daughters we never had. This beautiful, talented young person once picked me from an audience as her substitute father to dance with her. We were so happy when she returned to Texas with Steve to live, so that we could continue making more memories. Mustard Sandwiches!

I haven't seen Donna since we were at Sam Houston, but I remember her as a bright light - always "up", always ready with a smile. As long as we remember those who have passed before us, they are never truly gone. May God bless her and her family. SHHS '67

I was shocked to hear of the tragic news. I worked with Donna years ago in Fly AAway Vacations and can still hear her laughter echoing in my heart. She was a great mentor and an even better friend. She will be missed.

My sincerest condolences to Steve and her mother.

It is cliche but I truly believe memories will help you through this tough time.
