Doris Hahn Obituary

Doris May Hahn passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at age 79. Service: 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. Interment: Doris May Hahn's final resting place will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in the city Twinsburg close to Cleveland, Ohio. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, North Central Texas, 2630 West Freeway, Suite 100, Fort Worth, Texas 76102, 817-336-4949. Doris was born to Al and Irene Monus on Jan. 28, 1933. She married Dr. Edward K. Hahn, D.D.S., on June 25, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio, at the "Old Stone Church" on Cleveland's Historic Public Square. They began their marriage with an adventure when Ed received a Regular Air Force commission and internship at Brook Army Hospital in San Antonio. In June 1957 they moved to Andrews AFB in Maryland and in February 1960 they relocated back to Cleveland to teach dentistry at Case Western Reserve School of Dentistry. In June 1964 they again moved, this time settling back in Texas where they made their home in North Richland Hills and later Colleyville. Doris was overjoyed to have two children, Sheryl Louise Hahn and Edward Karl Hahn Jr. She watched and guided them to be true to themselves and to all those around them. Her caregiver and loving friend, Linda Giese, was her daily support. She gave Doris love and was totally devoted to her care. Another caregiver, "Mele," was also devoted and a true friend. Doris' friends remained near and dear to her heart; even with dementia she remembered them in beautiful detail from prior times. Dori was a multi-talented person, but her greatest gift was to share her love to all who surrounded her. An excellent artist in the use of watercolor, acrylics and oils. She taught for several years at Tarrant County College encouraging seniors to express themselves through art. They appreciated her total patience and assistance. To her, every painting was perfect. Those students remaining from the classes still remember her that way. Doris was a member of the Trinity Arts Guild. Her paintings were exhibited in many art shows and competitions. Doris was also a member of International Training in Communication (ITC) in which she enjoyed making presentations in front of large groups. She was a certified graphoanalyst and member of the Texas Chapter of the International Graphoanalysis Society. She presented and analyzed audiences' writing with her skill and vast knowledge of graphoanalysis. She had an incredible gift of interpreting handwriting. Her friends were always asking to have their handwriting analyzed to reveal their personal traits. She did this as a gift to those who really wanted to know about their inner self. She was an intensely devoted member of the Texas Graphoanalysis Society and studied consistently. Doris was a past member and president of the Fort Worth District Dental Society Women's Auxiliary, which included fund raising and social activities. As a wife and mother she was loving, caring, truthful, proper, correct and more but you would expect these things from an intelligent, demure, generous and helpful woman. These do not come close to conveying the words "perfect in all ways." She consistently professed her love to her husband and Ed always knew Doris was the love of his life and for eternity â€" an angel. Our world has been diminished by one of a kind. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Al and Irene Monus, and an older sister, Alice Murton. Survivors: Doris May Hahn is survived by her husband, Dr. Edward K. Hahn; son, Edward K. Hahn Jr. and wife, Kathy; daughter, Sheryl Louise Posey; grandchildren, Jessica Rattan and husband, Cory Rattan, Edward Karl Hahn III, Kristina Elyse Hahn, Nathaniel Elliot Hahn; sister, Grace Suchy and husband, Ed; nephews, Wayne Suchy and Arthur Murton Jr; nieces, Karen Roberts and Ellen Nesmith; relatives, Craig and Betty Hahn; and her most cherished family pet, Poco the chihuahua.

Ed and family,
We were so sadly surprised to read of Doris' passing. What good memories we have of our sweet, gracious neighbor who was truly a lady. The neighborhood has lost one of the best. We miss you both.
