My memory of Scottie is like an impressionist’s painting—a little blurry but a distinct picture.
I met Scottie more than thirty years ago at a Smallwood Foundation board meeting where she accompanied Harry—a board trustee. Since that meeting and many others—I formed a deep admiration of Scottie.
Scottie was—above all— “curious.” I saw this best at our site visits. Scottie listened carefully to the presentations, she asked a lot of questions and her comments were insightful and well-crafted.
As a hostess in their beautiful home, Scottie always made us feel comfortable. No matter what topic of conversation came up—she was always ready to discuss. And, although she had extensive knowledge of many subjects—education, language, music, and travel—some of her lifetime passions—Scottie was always interested in learning more.
I also tried not to be surprised at what Scottie was reading. She read everything! From novels to scholarly tomes.
Not surprising to me though—was how well Scottie handled Parkinson’s. Always a lady, always a scholar—she approached this challenge like she did everything else—calmly, patiently and with the utmost consideration for others.
We will miss her—but the world is a better place that she was here.

I can still hear Scottie´s bubbling laughter that always made you happy. Her speaking voice was so lovely and melodic. I never heard an unkind word from her. Our boys were best friends and it was George who found our house (in his neighborhood). We carpooled together, took walks every morning and she even got me to join her church choir. One of my favorite memories was a rare snowy day when the boys were joyfully riding their bikes around the neighborhood. Scottie and I slipped into my jacuzzi and sipped on some Champaign. I have never known a more wonderful human and she will forever have a piece of my heart. My love goes out to Harry, Chris, and George. I don´t know what to say except that I grieve with you.

Scottie's photograph is how I will always remember her: open, smiling, slightly windblown and vibrant as if she had stepped fresh from a successful Spanish lesson or in anticipation of a marvelous symphony concert. She lit up every room. I send love and sympathy from the Sear family to Harry and all Scottie's family and friends.

I have so many memories of Scottie...my beloved college roommate and friend for the last 61 years-and my heart aches for Harry, Chris and George and their families. Scottie was the sweetest, kindest person, beautiful inside and out, bright, loving, caring and she blessed my life in so many ways..we are all left with a less brighter world with her passing....wishing love and peace to her family and many friends....Sue and Bob
