Edith Anderson Obituary

Edith Jo Anderson FORT WORTH--Edith Jo Anderson, 90, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, surrounded by her family. MEMORIAL SERVICE: Noon. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, with a reception immediately following in the parlor. MEMORIALS: Church was always a special part of Edith's life and the family has asked that memorial donations be made in loving memory of Edith Jo Anderson and mailed to First Presbyterian Church, 1000 Penn St., Fort Worth, Texas, 76102. Born Oct. 1, 1926, in Comanche, Texas, to Lela Stark and Thomas Northcutt. She was a graduate of Comanche High School, and was an executive secretary for Champlin Petroleum. She enjoyed travel, dinner club with friends, Maj-Jo Sunday School at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Worth and Circle Club. Blessed with a green thumb, Edith loved gardening and always had flowers, vegetables and houseplants thriving under her care. But more than anything, Edith loved her family. Family was always first and she was always happiest when they were with her. She grew up in Comanche, Texas, and moved to Fort Worth with her husband to raise her family. She lived there all her adult life. Edith and Ottis purchased a ranch in Poolville where they, along with their sons, raised cattle and hay. She was a great ranch hand and was active in every part of making the ranch a success. The family would like to thank Silverado Memory Care Community, their staff and the hospice staff for their caring attention during Edith's last year. SURVIVORS: Children, Thomas and Gary and their spouses, Brenda and Carol; grandchildren, Lindsay (Mayer), Ryan, Douglas, Heather, Matthew and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Madeline and Addison Mayer, Taylor and Grace Anderson; and nieces and nephews, Ann Helms, Randy and Wesley Northcutt and Lana Cross. Edith inspired all who met her with her kindness and generosity. She always reminded us that family is what mattered most.

I met Edith in 1974 at Champlin. What a lady she was. I always looked up to her. Even when she was at Silverado she was always "put together.". Vancie, Edith and I had many good times together. I will miss her.
