Era Smiley Obituary

On Wednesday, July 1, 2009, our beloved mother, Era Opal Foster Smiley passed from this earth and into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Service: was Friday, July 3, at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, Colleyville, followed by interment next to the one with whom she shared her life.
Memorials: First Baptist Church of Bedford, P.O. Box 59, Bedford, Texas 76095.
Those who knew her well during her 99 years realized she was a "special lady." Her quiet ways often belied the inner strength which was needed as she followed her "oil man" husband wherever his work took him. Together for 72 years they raised three children. Often her husband, Boone, though never wishing to be away from his beloved wife and children, was confident that our mother lovingly cared for them, kept them in church and made home a happy place for his return.
Though her life was not always easy, she accepted the things she could not change, with grace, which was the hallmark of her life.
Survivors: Children, Chuck and Sally Smiley of San Diego, Calif., Bill and Ann Hilton of Euless, Nancy Smiley of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
