Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at First St. John Full Gospel Church, 2401 E. Berry St. Burial: Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m.
Survivors: Wife, LaTonja McGrew; children, Eric McGrew Jr., Kortlum Hill, Devondre McGrew, Isaiah Anderson and Serinity McGrew; parents, Ernest Kennedy (Marcie) and Janice Nicholson (Jeffery); brothers, Donald Jr., Daniel, Marcus (Patrice) and Donnell (San); sisters, LaTashia, Earnestine, Avis, Shanell (Bilil) and Shonya; grandparents, Dorothy and James McGrew; stepmother, Faye Kennedy; stepfather, Donald Hopkins Sr.; and a host of other family and friends.

I'm at work right now, and a gentleman came in that looked like you from behind...every and anything reminds me of you. hey brother it's been 5 months since u went to pradise & i've written you---i've been to your gravesite a few times since it's been down in febuary...it looks nice--there's a hispanic girl rt next to u her
b-day is 7 days after yours the same year but she died in april 06
well we all have been ok.taking it 1 day @ a time---daddy's sister aunt louise passed away 4/13/07.
carletta moved to virginia were tanisha stays,me,princess,& her friend pam is going to visit them july 6-13...the kids are doing good..malik acts up sometimes he knows if you were here he would get beat up---in febuary keyona had another eye surgery---if u were here u would had been there--no doubt---brandy is remarried & moved to germany...donnell moved to japan---the whole family is doing good---brandon has a baby on the way & sasha...harold jr has a new baby girl---kendrick got married & quota is getting married--well brother i just wanted to talk to u as if you were still here w/me because we would have been having these conversations anyway---i love u & miss u terribly

Hey Eric...I miss you so much. I was sitting at work and you just came across my mind. It is still hard to believe that you are no longer with us. Even to this day I think about the times we shared and the things you said and it still makes me laugh til I cry. I love you will see you soon.

It's been awhile since I have visited you. Your boys are doing good. They had a very good Christmas. They are doing really good in school. I know that that makes you proud because you were always on them about their school work. We still miss you so much. It's getting easier as the days go by. My prayers are with you LaTonya. Eric will be missed by his ITOP family. In the days to come without Eric; Know that Eric's work is done, but God is still with you and he will never leave nor forsake you. Call on him when your heart is filled with grief. Only he can take the pain away.

Eric I want you to know that I really love you, and you will truly be missed. I can't get over the fact that I can't pick up the phone and call you when I need you. Your children are missing as well. We had became friends over the last two years and I feel like I lost my best friend. Even though we had our share of disagreements we alway managed to keep that close bond. I know that you smiling down from heaven,and you are watching Eric and Devon. You will forever be in our hearts. I promise that will raise your children to be the men that you would have wanted them to be. God doesn't make any mistakes and I know that you were tired. God knew your assigment was up so he came and got you. Job well done!!!! I now your in heaven singing some body crazy or playing the drum, disturbing to peace!!! I had the pleasure of meeting Eric almost 5 years ago with the Fort Worth Falcons Youth Football Association. The pleasure was all mine. Fluff, Ms. Janice, Carletta, and the entire McGrew Family. Words can not express the sympathy that I feel for you at this time. The only comfort that I can give you is the Word of Christ. Know that I am praying for you and even though I can not be there with you in person, my heart is there with you even now. I'm here if you need anything... Remember the good times...especially the times of song. I remember Carletta's birthday party a few years ago when Eric along with the entire family took over the karaoke stage at City Streets. That usually happened whenever you all went anywhere. Although you will miss seeing Eric, I know that your souls rejoice knowing that he is in heaven, and that one day you will be with him again.

I had the pleasure of knowing Eric and working with him 10 years ago. I soon later discovered his wife Tonya was my daughters daycare teacher at Bethleham Daycare. Eric was a man who loved his wife and children. Tonya stay strong and understand that GOD don't make mistakes. Wheeping may indure for a night but joy cometh in the morning.
