Ernest Marotte

1914 - 2012

Ernest C. Marotte passed away Friday, April 20, 2012, in Bedford. Service: A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Colleyville. Memorials: Catholic Charities, in lieu of flowers. Ernest was born Sept. 18, 1914, in Springfield, Mass., to Ernest George and Teresa Libel Marotte. Ernie was a officer manager for John Hancock Life Insurance in Milwaukee, Wis., for many years. He was a constant advocate for the poor and less fortunate. He spent many hours volunteering for the St. Vincent de Paul Society through the Catholic Church. Upon his retirement, Ernie and his wife, Eileen, moved to Hot Springs Village, Ark. Ernie was an avid golfer, a member of the "Roaring 90s" Club and the Men's Club. He was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in the Village. In 2009 Ernie moved to Grapevine to be near his daughter, Jean. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Eileen Ochs Marotte. He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Survivors: Children, Len Marotte of Wichita, Kan., Anais Troadec of Hot Springs Village, Ark., Eileen Marotte Stone and husband, Dr. George Stone, of Wauwatosa, Wis., and Jean Leitenberger and husband, John Leitenberger, of Colleyville; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond Marotte of California; and many nieces and nephews.
