Felix Gloden Obituary

Felix Anthony Gloden, 92, of Port Orange, Fla., died Saturday, June 20, 2009.
Funeral Mass: 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Port Orange, with Father Joe Pinchock officiating. Interment: His final resting place will be the Lithuanian Cemetery in Mexico, Maine. Volusia Memorial Funeral Home in Port Orange, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in honor of Felix to Haven Hospice, 211B N. Amelia Ave., DeLand, Fla. 32724, or Halifax Humane Society, 2364 W. LPGA Blvd., Daytona Beach, Fla. 32120.
He was born in Rumford, Maine, on Nov. 12, 1916, and served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in Europe during World War II. He graduated from the University of Maine and later completed master's degree courses at the University of Southern California. He worked as a personnel officer in federal civil service. After retirement in 1981, he lived at St. Francis Retirement Village in Crowley for more than 20 years and was active with the Catholic Church as an altar server and sacristan. He also was a fourth-degree honor guard member of the Knights of Columbus. In 2005, he moved to Port Orange, Fla., to live with his family.
Survivors: Nieces, Judith McHugh and Barbara Hall and husband, Andy, all of Port Orange; nephew, David Herrell and wife, Dana, of Anchorage, Alaska; and six grandnieces and grandnephews.
