Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Commerce. The Revs. Greg Purviance and Johnnie Henderson will officiate. Burial: 3 p.m. Monday at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Tyler. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Florine Howell Dean was born Sept. 24, 1922, in Talco, the daughter of the late Benjamin Fain and Lola Mae Davis Howell. She was raised in Tyler and moved to Commerce in 1952. She married Richard Dean Nov. 13, 1948, in Tyler. He preceded her in death in 1987. She graduated from East Texas State University and received an E.E.D. in education. She was an English professor at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall. She retired in 1987. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Commerce and was active in Alpha Chi.
Survivors: Daughters, Laurel Rae and husband, Merle Erb, of FOrt Worht and Dana Denise and husband, Michael Shepherd of Duncanville; brother, Earl Moore of Tyler; grandchildren, Benjamin David Shaw, Joshua Andrew Shaw, Alex Shepherd, Caleb Shepherd and Lindsey Shepherd.
