Frank McAnally Obituary

Frank Norris McAnally "went on over" on Sunday, March 6, 2011, at a Weatherford care center, at the age of 86, due to pneumonia complications. Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Hico with military honors to follow in Duffau Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rutledge Funeral Home Chapel. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Gideons International, P.O. Box 122, Weatherford, Texas 76086, in honor of Frank N. McAnally. A resident of Hico for almost 40 years, he was born at home in Duffau on Nov. 14, 1924, one of six sons of Albert and Jennie McAnally. There were 14 children of this blended family. Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Kitty McAnally; son, Steve McAnally; and grandson, Jason McVean. Frank, an Army veteran of World War II, received the Purple Heart at the Battle of the Bulge, and eight other medals. He was one of six brothers who served in the armed forces in World War II, with another brother in the Korean War. Frank took pride in researching the whereabouts of his brother, Billy McAnally, MIA in World War II. He enjoyed giving speeches about his research. Frank was raised a Methodist and joined the Baptist church after he married Kitty. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hico. Frank worked in the grocery business for 41 years. He and Kitty owned Mac's Food Store in Hico for 16 years before retirement. He then worked as custodian at First Baptist Hico. Survivors: Brothers, John McAnally and wife, Virginia, of Lubbock, and Dean McAnally and wife, Sue, of Aspermont; daughters, Sandra Canton and husband, Chuck, of Weatherford and Julie Polk and husband, Dale, of Hico; son, Frank McAnally Jr. of Cleburne; six grandchildren, Dusty, Norris, Noah, Cheyenne, Drew; great-grandchildren, Tucker, Livie, Claire, Falyn and Finly; and many nieces and nephews.
