My initial contact with Gabby was in 2003 when he purchased the Kimmon Quartz building in Fossil Creek. I represented the seller in the transaction. Afterwards, we maintained contact on an infrequent basis, but each occasion was always an enjoyable event. Regrettably, not recently.

Please accept my condolences.

Today's service was truly a celebration of Gabi's life, and though I am saddened by his passing, I know that he is in a safe and perfect place now, surrounded by a multitude of his friends and loved ones. My association with Gabi spans some 40 plus years, initially though my parents, Eilah and Elmer Maki. He and my father ("Maki" as he was known to Gabi and others during frequent visits to the dealership and later to G.A.S. Int'l.)had a mutual admiration society for each other, as I was privileged to witness. Though I didn't see Gabi often after my parent's passing, I thoroughly enjoyed our visits when I had the opportunity. If the mark of a great man is to leave the world a better place, Gabi did that and more, as evidenced by the stories and outpouring of love and respect in evidence today. My family and I are honored to have been his friend, and hope that these thoughts will make your days a little easier. May our loving God wrap His arms around you all, granting you peace.

Love,
Pam Maki Hatcher

Dear Sztamenits Family,

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I shed a tear when I think of Gabby and the amazing man he was and how lucky I was to have had him in my life. I smile when I think about him now having great laughs again with my grandparents, the Maki's, with whom he was very close to.

Gabby was almost like a second grandfather to me. We used to stop by at the warehouse just to say hi with my parents and I always came home with a new telephone! I remember as a kid when my family and I would drop in unexpectedly he always pushed back appointments and made us feel like the most important people in the world. He would give us grand tours of his new adventures in the warehouse and brag on his wonderful kids and family members. When I went to Budapest for school studies he insisted I take one of his Hungarian magazines (which I could not even read) and contact info for his family over there. He was elated that I was going to Budapest and very proud. In fact he told me that as soon as I landed back in the U.S. he wanted me to come down there and tell him all about it.

I hope the memories I have shared will bring a laugh for the family members and friends who are all grieving at this time. Gabby made a strong lasting impression on everyone he ever met. I am thankful to have known such a beautiful person and to treasure so many wonderful memories.

Love Always,

Amy Hatcher
