Gus James Gavrel Jr. FORT WORTH--Gus "Bubba" Gavrel Jr., 64, lost his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018. FUNERAL: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Chapel. Reception follows from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Greenwood Live Oak Room. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood. Bubba was born in Fort Worth on Oct. 20, 1954, to parents, Mary Katherine and Gus Gavrel Sr. He attended Rigdlea Hills Elementary, Monnig Middle School, and Arlington Heights High School. Bubba was an avid outdoor sportsman who enjoyed fishing in all forms of water. He loved the thrill of the hunt from Texas big game to arrowheads along with the camaraderie of best friends around the roaring campfire on his trips to Indian Creek, Pine Lake, Coleman, Lake Fork, Marble Falls, and Balmorhea. Bubba had a 30-year passion for nurturing plumeria in his backyard. He took pleasure in cooking for his large extended family, but his greatest joys in life were raising his daughter, Katie; and trying to keep up with his wife, Beverly. Bubba was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Katherine; father, Gus James Gavrel Sr.; and brother, Carl Gavrel. SURVIVORS: Bubba is survived by his wife of 33 years, Beverly, of Fort Worth; daughter, Katie; brother, Bobby; along with nieces, nephews and numerous cousins; and constant companion, Petie.
