Mrs. Roach was born Nov. 23, 1908, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was a longtime resident of Athens, Ohio and moved to Arlington in 1971. A graduate of Pomeroy (Ohio) High School, Mrs. Roach received her bachelor of science degree from Ohio University in 1930. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha and was active in the Arlington chapter of ZTA Alumnae and in the Arlington Women's Club. She was also a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church in both Athens and Arlington.
For several years in the 1950s she was an editor for the Athens Messenger and a member of Theta Sigma Phi, a journalism organization. She was also a science teacher in the Athens County school system.
Survivors: Her sister, Madolyn Markham of Plantation, Fla.; her brother, Charles Pickett of Gainesville, Fla., and Pomeroy, Ohio; her daughter, Diana Ferguson of Arlington; her son, Bruce Roach of Nacogdoches; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
