Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lamar Baptist Church in Arlington. Graveside service: Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington with pastors, the Rev. Bruce Schmidt and the Rev. James Weir officiating. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Harold was born in Alvin. Shortly thereafter, his family moved to his hometown of Pasadena, when he was 3 years old.
Harold was an outstanding athlete at Pasadena High School, where he was captain of the Eagles' regional championship football team, played on Pasadena High's state championship basketball team in 1946 and was recently enshrined in the Pasadena High School Sports Hall of Fame. Harold received a football scholarship to the University of Houston and played on the first Cougar football team in the school's history. In recent years, he enjoyed being a player-coach for the Stars, his senior league softball team.
Harold worked 13 years at Champion Papers and retired from General Motors in 1986 after 23 years of service. Harold was very active at Lamar Baptist Church and served faithfully both as a deacon and on the building committee.
Survivors: His loving wife of 58 years, Norma; children, Harold D. and Jennie Dixson, Paul and Kathie Eaton, Mike and Luanne Dixson and Debra and Thomas W. Dromgoole; sisters, Helen and Bob White and Hazel Walisky; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

I am sorry to hear that Mr. Dixson past away to go be with the Lord. Michael my thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family at this time. Your father touch so many lives in so many ways. I know he did mine. He was a good Christian man. I always enjoyed being around him growing up.

Uncle Harold was a wonderfull person and everyone loved his wit...I remember his visit and him telling my step-son Steven when you can make 35 basketball in a roll give me a call and that was cute...We loved him... God Bless his family. Love Sharlene
