Fort Worth, Texas - Henry Austin Ortega Sr. passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021 at the age of 79.
Funeral Service: 12:00 p.m. Saturday August 7, 2021 at Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment to follow. Rosary: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 6, at Mount Olivet Chapel.
Henry was born on May 28 in Tiffin, Ohio. At age 17 he enlisted in the Air Force for four years. Henry worked as a General Machinist for Bell Helicopter for 28 years where he retired. He loved cooking and making tamales with his children. His greatest passion was the game of Baseball. He loved playing and coaching baseball and organizing golf functions. But mostly he loved coaching and watching each of his grandsons play baseball and football. Henry would always help out his friends or family in need. He was well respected and a mentor to many in his neighborhood.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Margarita and Jose Ortega Sr.; siblings, Lucy Firestone, Jose Ortega Jr., Jesse Ortega; and son, Henry Ortega Jr.
Survivors: Daughters, Theresa Ortega and Kathy Toomer, Rosa Jones and husband, Dietrich, and Angela Ortega; grandchildren, Christopher Ortega-Hunter, Wesley Harris, Ivan Ortega-Jones, Isaiah Ortega-Jones and Julian Ortega-Jones; and four great-grandchildren.
