Herbert Joseph "JR" Fabian Jr., 83, passed peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, June 10, 2014. Service: 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Lane A, where JR and Sue will rest together at a columbarium. A celebration of life will follow at the home of Larry and Laurie Fabian, 1106 Fairway Court, Mansfield. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation or a charity of choice. JR was born in Evansville, Ind., on July 29, 1930. While in high school, he worked at the A&P grocery where he met his future wife, Suzanne May, while she was shopping with her mother. Their courtship began and they were married June 24, 1950. JR joined the United States Marine Corps in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1955. He completed his studies at Memphis State in 1957. They went on to raise three sons. JR semi-retired in the mid-1980s. JR and Sue enjoyed time spent at their farm in Godley raising cattle. JR was preceded in death by his wife, Sue; parents, Herbert Sr. and Marie Fabian; brother, Harold Kenneth Fabian; and sister, Dorothy Lacer. Survivors: Sons, Larry and wife, Laurie, Keith and fiancee, Robin, and Kevin; grandchildren, Jennifer Alt, David Fabian, Savannah Fabian and Elizabeth Gray; great-grandchildren, Aly Jones, Emma Alt, Gabrielle Fabian, Brandon Gray and Caleb Gray; brothers, Robert "Bob," Jerry and Billy Ray Fabian; and sister, Mary Rose Mayer.
